The Weill Cornell Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC) is strongly committed to education in clinical and translational research. The Clinical and Translational Educational Program (CTEP) was developed in 2007 and continues to expand and leverage a decade of accomplishments. CTEP remains an outstanding resource for preparing trainees at all levels for careers in translational research using multiple pathways with novel initiatives. The rigorous training of future investigators in the science and ethics of clinical and translational (C/T) research addresses the anticipated shortage of qualified clinical researchers, and increases the odds of success that will ultimately impact the quality of clinical care.
The Career Development Core (KL2) Program is located within the overarching Clinical and Translational Educational Program (CTEP). CTEP is composed of shared KL2, and TL1Training programs encompassing trainees at different levels and including community training initiatives. The core competencies comprising the Advanced Certificate and Masters Programs in Clinical and Translational Investigation with multi-disciplinary electives is central to both KL2 and TL1 programs. In addition to other initiatives, a Summer Fellowship for medical students is also offered, and a Career Enhancement Audit track which allows non-matriculated trainees to enroll in specific didactic courses of interest and a Clinical Research Methodology Curriculum.
