Community Engagement & Research

The principal objective of the Community Engagement and Research Component (CERC) is to improve the health of New York City Residents by incorporating the community into all aspects of the translational research process, disseminating best practices, engaging the community around specific projects and increasing minority representation in research studies.

 

To accomplish these goals, CERC offers a variety of resources to investigators and community engagement/outreach programs to the communities of New York City.

Community Outreach Programs

The below programs are free to communities, and provide a variety of health services, education and assistance to community members. Please click on the links below for more information about each program.

The Weill Cornell Heart-to-Heart Community Outreach Campaign (H2H): A free health screening and follow up intervention program that seeks to identify new and undertreated cases of diabetes, heart disease and eye disease.

Community Interactive Videoconferencing (CIVIC): A free health education program where a variety of health experts deliver interactive informal town hall style talks on health related topics through videoconferencing.

Hands Only CPR Training: A free training program to train community members in hands only CPR.

Resources for Investigators

CERC offers a variety of support and services for investigators, students, and community members interested in community based research studies.  These include study design, IRB/Regulatory support, subject recruitment and other services as requested.
