The CTSC offers several distinct electronic tools and resources to facilitate participant recruitment. I2b2 (Informatics for Integrating Biology and the Bedside) is Web-based interface that enabled researchers to query electronic health record data to identify cohorts of interest for research studies. ResearchMatch is a national research volunteer registry that helps connect researchers to patients with specific medical conditions (or willing to serve as controls) who are interested in serving as research participants. EMR recruitment alerts are study-specific alerts that can be programmed into the electronic medical record system (Epic) so that physicians are alerted in real-time when seeing a patient who meets eligibility criteria for a particular study.
