Congratulations to CTSC MSCTI alumna, S. Nena Osorio, MD, MS, on being selected as Co-Director of the American Pediatrics Association’s Quality and Safety Improvement Scholar Program. The academy’s mission is to attain optimal physical, mental and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents and young adults. The Quality and Safety Improvement Scholars Program is a three-year faculty development program designed to help academy members enhance their academic credentials in the area of quality and safety improvement science to develop into productive, advancing and fulfilled faculty members.

Since joining pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine, Dr. Osori has helped develop the patient and family-centered care PFCC program, formed the Komansky Children’s Hospital Family Advisory Council (KCH FAC) and Family Centered Rounds. Dr. Osorio is the Vice Chair for Quality and Patient Safety and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine. 

Dr. Osorio completed her Master's Degree in Clinical and Translational Investigation in 2011 where her research focused on "Risk Factors for Medication Discrepancies and Adverse Drug Events During the Transition from a Hospitalization to Outpatient Follow-up". During her Master's training, Dr. Osorio's mentoring team included Rainu Kaushal, MD of Weill Cornell Medicine and Lisa Kern, MD of Weill Cornell Medicine. 

The Master's Degree in Clinical Translational Investigation combines rigorous academics and strategic, practical skills, challenging students to apply scientific theory, concepts, methods, and innovative, team-oriented management to help solve complex biomedical and health issues.
