Congratulations to the 2023 CTSC Summer Fellowship for Medical Student recipients! This year’s incoming second year medical students include Abigail Calumpit, Daniel Tay, Caitlin Unkenholz, Nicole Weitzel and Sarah Wie.

Abigail Calumpit, BS, will work with Dr. Melody Zeng on investigating gut bacteria in infants exposed to maternal antidepressants. 

Daniel TayBA, will work with Dr. Conor Liston primary mentor and Dr. Amanda Buch as secondary mentor on Applying machine learning brain-behavior biomarkers of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to quantify brain-gene-behavior relationships using existing datasets.

Caitlin UnkenholzBS, will work with Dr. Shahin Rafii on engineering an in vitro vascularized pancreatic adenocarcinoma organoid system for uncovering.

Nicole WeitzelBA, will work with Dr. Camilla Martin on using human milk analysis to determine discrepancies between assumed and actual energy content in breast milk samples to inform clinical guidelines in the NICU.

Sarah WieBS, will work with Dr. Luc Morris on allele-specific loss of HLA, immune evasion and prognosis of cancer patients.
