News and Congratulations

ff

Congratulations to Dr. Heidi Meyer on her publication with the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science of the United States of America. Her article, titled "Ventral Hippocampus Interacts with Prelimbic Cortex during Inhibition of Threat Response via Learned Safety in Both Mice and Humans" was published in December 2019.

Dr. Meyer’s research with the TL1 Award covered safety signals as a mechanism for attenuating anxiety during adolescence. During Dr. Meyers time as a CTSC TL1 Trainee she was able to positively progress her research in mice and their learned safety signals that she later translated her findings to human adolescents and adults.   Her work on the TL1, and with the help of collaborators at Yale University, Dr. Meyer was able to provide a stable base to further her research in both mice and humans.

Heidi Meyer is currently a Postdoctoral Associate in Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine. Her primary mentor during her TL1 Award was Francis S. Lee, PhD, MD, Professor of Neuroscience and Chair of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine. Her secondary mentors were Thomas A. Cleland, PhD, Associate Professor of Neurobiology and Behavior, Cornell University and John T. Walkup, MD, Professor of Psychiatry, Weill Cornell Medicine.

The CTSC TL1 Training Core Award Program supports early career development among pre- and early post-doctoral trainees by providing salary support, protected time, advanced degree training and practical skills necessary to conduct interdisciplinary Clinical and Translational Investigation in a team research environment.
